Amiibos will unlock costumes in Mario Kart 8

Now-removed information on the Mario Kart 8 website has revealed exactly what Nintendo’s Amiibo figure will unlock in Wii U racer Mario Kart 8.

Polygon reports that using the NFC-equipped figures will allow users to access Nintendo-themed costumes for use with their Miis.

The Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Donkey Kong, Link, Kirby, Captain Falcon, Samus and Fox McCloud Amiibos will be supported.

The game will be updated via a patch to support Amiibo on November 13th, two weeks ahead of the toys’ UK release date.

The next Wii U title to support Amiibo will be Super Smash Bros, which also arrives on November 28th.
