APB hits UK on July 2nd

Realtime World’s MMO APB will hit retailers across Europe on July 2nd, the studio has announced.

That’s just a few days after the game hits the US, where it lands on June 29th.

The PC game is being distributed by EA and will be into French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian and English for the global roll out.

David Jones, creative director of Realtime Worlds said: We’re delighted to finally be announcing the release date for APB, and we’re looking forward to welcoming players on to the mean streets of San Paro. Gamers will soon get to experience a world of unparalleled customization, conflict and celebrity – whether they choose to be a Criminal or an Enforcer.”

EA and Realtime Worlds have also revealed the first pricing details on the game – and a clever new business model that mixes virtual currency, item sales, subscriptions and retail/digital game sales.

The standard retail price is 34.99 (or $49.99, or €49.99) and will be available both on disc or digitally.

The game includes 50 hours gameplay out of the box, but once that has run out users have the chance to add action for 5.59 (or $6.99 or €6.29) for a 20 hour pack.

30-day unlimited subscriptions cost 7.99 (or $9.99 or €8.99), with discounts available for 90 and 180 day subs.

The retail packaged also contains an extra 100 in-game RTW points towards purchases – the studio describes this in-game payment system as an ‘evolutionary model’ that lets players ‘convert your own customisations and rewards to tradable products to give to friends or clan-mates or to place on the Marketplace to earn more RTW points (convertible to game time) or in-game cash’.
