Apple: Blu-ray is a bag of hurt

Apple boss Steve Jobs has launched a scathing attack on Sony’s high definition Blu-ray disc format, casting doubt on the likelihood that his firm’s range of Mac computers will support Blu-ray in the future.

Engadget quotes Jobs as stating: Blu-ray is just a bag of hurt. It’s great to watch the movies, but the licensing of the tech is so complex, we’re waiting until things settle down and Blu-ray takes off in the marketplace.”

Apple, of course, recently unveiled its own HD movie downloads service through the globally popular iTunes, and may be looking to champion that form of hi-def delivery over any form of physical media.
