ArenaNet teams up with ESL for Guild Wars 2 Pro League

Guild Wars 2 developer ArenaNet has joined forces with eSports organizer ESL to form an official Pro League for the MMO.

The first season of the league is set to start in November, and replaces the Guild Wars 2 World Tournament Series. The seven-week season will be capped with a LAN event hosted by ESL.

A second season has already been planned as well, and a prize pool of $400,000 has been put together to distribute to competing players over the two.

We’re seeing massive growth in players joining Guild Wars 2 and competitive play is the fastest growing segment in the game, ArenaNet game director Colin Johanson said.

"Guild Wars 2 Pro League is the result of our vision to create a tournament system where the majority of our player community can participate and are given a clear path to improve their skills, form teams and qualify."

Guild Wars 2 launched August 2012 for PC and Mac.
