Industry vet Patrice Dsilets has returned to Ubisoft following the firm’s purchase of THQ Montreal, where Dsilets had previously been employed.
The Assassin’s Creed designer rejoined the publisher after the wholesale purchase of THQ’s Canadaian-based studio, an Ubisoft rep confirmed to Polygon.
"We are very pleased to welcome Patrice to Ubisoft again and anticipate that this renewed partnership will produce new ideas and high-quality titles for Ubisoft’s customers," the Ubisoft rep said.
An Ubisoft spokesperson had told the outlet, at the time of the THQ Montreal acquisition, that it was too soon to know if Dsilets would rejoin Ubisoft; however, the rep mentioned at the time that unannounced projects from the now-defunct studios were included in the purchase.
"In the coming weeks we’ll be looking at how to offer an organizational structure that provides continuity for the creative teams involved. Unannounced projects from THQ Montreal are included as part of the acquisition."
The projects the rep refers to include 1666, the working title for the project helmed by Dsilets, and another project with the placeholder title of Underdog.
Dsilets served as creative director when he left Ubisoft in 2010, and held the same position at THQ until its recent bankruptcy.
