Bandai Namco ‘seeking avenues’ for Dark Souls on PC post GFWL

The upcoming death of Games for Windows Live doesn’t mean permanent hollowing for Dark Souls.

That’s according to Bandai Namco, which has pledged that the PC version of the cult RPG will continue working for the time being and eventually migrate to an alternative system.

With the release of Dark Souls II, many players have been asking questions about the continued support of Dark Souls I,” it said. We thoroughly appreciate the dedicated fans who are adventuring through Lordran (maybe for the first time!).

Dark Souls will remain fully functional on GFWL for the foreseeable future. Bandai Namco Games is currently seeking avenues to continue support and ensure the functionality of Dark Souls on other services.”

Microsoft announced plans to scrap the often unpopular service last August, and since then some titles have already moved onto alternative systems.

The Dark Souls fan base on PC is still active and some fear that should From fail to migrate the title onto an alternative system, online functions – and god forbid even precious save game files – could be lost forever.
