Battlefield 1 trailer is the most ‘liked’ ever, Infinite Warfare the most disliked

Two of this year’s biggest Q4 FPS releases are experiencing very different fortunes on YouTube.

As reported last week, Activision’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has found itself subject to some sort of hate campaign on the video site. Since last week the game’s first trailer it has now gone on to receive a staggering 1,479,886 dislikes.

Forbes reports that this makes it the single most disliked trailer over on YouTube, and its eighth most disliked video of all time.

Battlefield 1, on the other hand, has in four days won itself 1,160,163 likes. This makes it the most liked trailer ever – across all mediums, not just games – and among the top 250 most liked YouTube videos ever. Furthermore, EA’s short has only 21,044 dislikes.

The abnormally high numbers, which in both directions eclipse trailers for massively successful products such as The Avengers or Grand Theft Auto V, lead the site to speculate that some sort of bot activity must be involved.

Activision last week said that the negativity being heaped on the trailer for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is nothing new and nothing to worry about. And indeed, whether what we’re seeing now will in any way be reflected by the pair’s sales number is a very interesting question (the answer to which is likely ‘no’).
