Beyond Good & Evil 2 won’t be at E3 2017

Rayman creator Michel Ancel has once again teased fans about Beyond Good & Evil 2 – the long-awaited follow-up to his photography action adventure released in 2003 – saying it’s unlikely to appear at this year’s E3 as he’s "not sure that E3 would be the best place" to showcase the game.

Speaking to fans on his Instagram account, Ancel did reveal, however, that work was continuing on the game and that we should hear more about it "sometime this year."

After its initial reveal back in 2008, Ancel confirmed the game had finally enteredpre-production back in September last year. Very little is known about Beyond Good & Evil 2 otherwise, though. There were rumours the title might be a timed Nintendo Switch exclusiveat one point, and a possible working title being thrown about is Beyond Good & Evil: The Prejudices of Philosophers. Others have suggested it might be more of a reboot than a sequel, while others have said it will focus more on lead character Jade’s back story.

Beyond Good & Evil may not be making an appearance at E3, then, but one thing we are expecting from Ubisoft at this year’s show is more details on its recently leaked Mario Rabbids crossover title. The game, entitled Mario & Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, surfaced earlier this week.

The game is allegedly an RPG that mixes open exploration with turn-based combat, with each of its four worlds offering a ‘twisted’ take on Mario’s Mushroom Kingdom. Mario and co, will be using gun-like arm cannons for the first time, while Rabbids will be dressed up as iconic Mario characters. The title was meant to be a surprise announcement at E3, with a release date currently slated for August or September.
