Blaze and Tommo fight back in Neo Geo X dispute

Tommo and Blaze have rebutted SNK’s attempts to shut down the Neo Geo X console.

MCV yesterday reported that SNK had issued notice of the withdrawl of its licensing agreement for the retro console, demanding an immediate cease to its manufacture, distribution and sale.

This morning, however, both its American manufacturer and distributor as well as its European distribution partner have said they will not adhere to the demands.

Tommo said in a statement that it denies that any breach of contract exists in their agreement with SNK” and that it is continuing to support and market the popular Neo Geo X Gold entertainment system, its accessories, and games”.

The company added that it fully expects this agreement to be honoured by all parties”, that it has performed all of its obligations under its license agreement with SNK and is disappointed by SNK’s sudden and unjustified termination of the agreement” and says it id demanding that SNK retracts its press release and any attempts to terminate the license agreement”.

Tommo CEO Jonathan Wan stated: Tommo is still taking care of all customer service and product warranties in North America as are our master distribution partners, Success in Asia and Blaze in Europe. The license agreement which allows Tommo to sell and market these products remains in effect.”

The Neo Geo X’s European distributor Blaze has also told MCV that it will continue selling the product on these shores, with Jason Cooper saying: Blaze will continue to market and sell all the Neo Geo X Product range and fully support all end users, retailers and distributors in the territories we are responsible for”.
