Capcom appoints new US and Euro CEO

Publisher Capcom has announced the appointment of Kazuhiko Abe as CEO and president of Capcom Europe and Capcom USA.

He replaces Capcom veteran Hiroshi Tobisawa, who has moved into another position at the company.

Abe, who has been at Capcom since 2003, will be responsible for the overall management of North American and European business operations and will look to promote efficient international operations” between the two divisions.

Abe-san has proven to be an invaluable asset to Capcom,” Capcom’s chairman and chief executive officer Kenzo Tsujimoto stated. His experience of over seven years with Capcom can only benefit the operations in North America and Europe and strengthen the relationships between the Japanese and Pan-Western territories.”

It’s unclear whether the move will affect the role of former PlayStation boss David Reeves, who was appointed Capcom Europe COO in March. At the time it was said that Reeves would be taking charge of Capcom’s European operations.

MCV has contacted Capcom for clarification.

UPDATE: Capcom has confirmed that there has been no structural alterations at either its US or European office, with Reeves now reporting to Abe but maintaining charge of the European office.
