Capcom has shifted less than 100,000 copies of Street Fighter V since May

Capcom’s financial report has revealed that less than 100,000 copies of Street Fighter V have been shipped since May.

Back in May the publisher reported that it had shipped 1.4 million copies of Street Fighter V since the game’s launch in February. Overnight the company updated its financial results, but kept the 1.4 million copies shipped number, meaning less than 100,000 units have been shipped between May and September 30th.

This is well below the target Capcom set themselves, as they initially wanted to ship two million units before the end of March.

Of course the disastrous launch will have had an impact on this. Street Fighter V released with no story mode, and was missing key features, leading to many not purchasing the game at launch. Since then new features and the story mode have been patched in, but this doesn’t seem to have impacted on the sales.

The news does come as a bit of a shock as the Street Fighter V eSports scene has been doing quite well. Many of the major events have seen high viewer counts and companies such as ESL have increased their support for the game in recent months.
