Charlie Brookers games TV show commissioned

Charlie Brooker has confirmed that his games TV show has been commissioned, MCV can reveal.

Gameswipe is a spin-off from Brooker’s popular BBC Four programmes Screenwipe and Newswipe.

Brooker confirmed via his Twitter account: ‘Gameswipe is happening, yes. More on that nearer the time.’

MCV revealed that Brooker was producing the show last month – but the project was still yet to be green-lit.

Now it appears that BBC Four has given the thumbs up to the idea. However, no transmission date has been given.

Brooker also said that expected to record an end-of-year Screenwipe round-up, and that Newswipe would return in 2010.
