Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 retained its top spot in the UK charts, unsurprisingly. Sales for the title were down 39 per cent week-on-week, which is a good performance for a second week on shelves. Last year’s entry, Call of Duty: WWII had a slightly higher drop, with sales decreasing 43 per cent between Week One and Week Two. But overall, physical sales for Black Ops 4 are lagging behind compared to WWII, which had sold almost twice as much in its first two weeks.
Elsewhere in the charts, Lego DC Super-Villains debuted at No.6, with sales figures fairly similar to what Lego the Incredibles sold during its first week back in June – it’s just very slightly down 0.48 per cent.
Soulcalibur VI also entered the Top Ten for its first week on shelves, at No.8. Sales were down 55 per cent compared to the previous entry in the franchise, but Soulcalibur V released in 2012, when the physical market was a completely different beast so this comparison might not be completely fair.
Further down the charts, Starlink: Battle for Atlas, Ubisoft’s ambitious toys-to-life title, debuted at No.14 to underwhelming sales. Even if there’s certainly a percentage of players who chose to go digital for this one (the tie-in toys are also available digitally), it’s a very slow start for what Ubisoft sees as a new franchise that relies on physical products. Starlink should hopefully do better in the run up to Christmas.
Meanwhile, Dark Souls Remastered re-entered the charts at No.12 following the Switch release and 3DS remaster Luigi’s Mansion debuted at No.23.
The charts will no doubt be more exciting next week as Red Dead Redemption 2 is finally hitting shelves this Friday.
