Chris Smith and Paul Andrews step down from Retro Computers

Two of the directors of Sinclair ZX Spectrum Vega Plus firm Retro Computers have resigned.

Chris Smith (pictured far right) and Paul Andrews (pictured right) have stepped down from the firm due to ‘irreconcilable differences’ between them and the last remaining director, David Levy.

A statement released on Smith and Andrews’ behalf said that since Friday, April 8th the two have had no involvement in Retro’s management or business, but they do remain shareholders.

Though this is the first confirmation we have had about Smith and Andrews’ situation, Retro Computing News reported that the duo had resigned back in April.

Retro Computers is currently behind a IndieGoGo crowdfunding push for a handheld version of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, entitle the Vega-Plus. That project raised 406,255 by its close date of March 27th. That was 367 per cent of the product’s goal.

Smith and Andrews’ statement can be read below:

On 8 April 2016, and with immediate effect, both Chris Smith and Paul Andrews resigned as directors of Retro Computers Ltd. This state of affairs was the result of irreconcilable differences between them and the remaining director, David Levy.

Whilst they currently still retain shareholdings in the company, Chris and Paul have had no input into, or involvement with the management or business of Retro Computers Ltd since 8 April 2016. At the time of their resignation, the Indiegogo crowdfunding initiative for the proposed Vega+ console was underway but Retro Computers Ltd had as yet not received any funds from that source. Plans were in place within the company for the pursuit of that project at that time and Chris and Paul sincerely hope that that project will (without their further input) be successful.

Since 8 April 2016 David Levy has been in sole control of the company.

Due to ongoing disputes Chris and Paul are not in a position to comment further at this time.
