2013 marks a ‘new era’ for Pokémon

The next 12 months will be amongst the biggest in Pokmon history, says The Pokmon Company.

The firm is gearing up to launch multiple new games, a new TV series, events, a film and new toys throughout 2013, all climaxing in the launch of Pokmon X and Y on 3DS this October: the first ever worldwide release of a major Pokmon game.

The firm also says it has ‘cleared the decks’ in terms of licensing, and Tomy International has been brought onboard to ensure that everyone around the world gets the same toys as the ones out in Japan.

Undoubtedly 2013 is a key year for us to grow and usher in a new era for Pokmon with Pokmon X and Pokmon Y and the introduction of new characters as the launch platform,” The Pokmon Company International’s marketing director Anthony Cornish told MCV.

We believe these games will appeal to all generations both veterans and newcomers to Pokmon.”

But before the launch of X and Y, Nintendo will release Pokmon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity in Europe on Friday, May 17th. And the firm will this month launch a Skylanders-style toy/game hybrid called Pokmon Rumble U in Japan, although there’s currently no word on a European release yet.
