3DS LAUNCH: Non-games push for handheld

Nintendo has announced a wide range of 3D programming will be available through the 3DS.

During its special preview event in Amsterdam, the platform holder brought out Aardman Animation’s co-founder David Sproxton to detail the studio’s new partnership with Nintendo.

The studio, famed for Wallace & Gromit and Creature Comforts, previously helped Nintendo promote its FlipNote Studio software. Now it will produce original content for its 3DS, starting with exclusive 3D short films based on Shaun the Sheep.

Nintendo also announced special partnerships with Eurosport and Sky Sports 3D, which will allow 3DS owners to download sports coverage to their new handheld.
