3DS regains Japan top spot

Having slipped from the top of Media Create’s Japanese hardware charts last week, Nintendo’s 3DS has regained the crown it briefly relinquished.

Andriasang reports that the new handheld sold 28,252 units last week. That’s actually down on the 32,910 sold the week before, but with PSP hardware sales falling 13k to 23,846 units it’s still enough to hand 3DS the top spot.

It’s a different story in the software charts, however. Namco Bandai’s new PSP title 2nd Super Robot Wars Z Hakai Volume debuts in first place in the listings followed by new PS3 game Pro Baseball Spirits 2011 from Konami.

The highest 3DS title is Nintendo’s Pilot Wings Resort, which debuts in sixth position.

The PS3 version of THQ’s Homefront, which is published by Spike in Japan, debuts at No.7. The Xbox 360 SKU entered the charts in 14th.
