Game releases one week after Xbox One launch

Destiny coming exclusively to PS3 and PS4 in Japan

Bungie’s upcoming multiplayer shooter Destiny will be released exclusively on PS4 and PS3 on September 11th in Japan.

The game launches on September 9th for PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One around the rest of the world.

Microsoft has yet to release the Xbox One in Japan though, but the console is expected to launch just before Destiny on September 4th.

It is not currently clear whether it is a timed exclusive for Sony.

The news comes as somewhat of a surprise given Bungie’s close ties in the past with Microsoft, having created the Halo series, a flagship Xbox IP, and subsequently developing exclusively for the platform for years. Its last game was Xbox was Halo: Reach in September 2010.
