Disney: Toy shortages are irresponsible and rude to hardcore fans

The executive producer of toys-to-life brand Disney Infinity has seemingly lashed out at Nintendo over the platform holder’s failure to manage the Amiibo supply situation.

There is never an intention to create a shortage of any figures,” John Vignocchi told Destructoid, which accused Nintendo of plotting artificial supply constraints, limited runs, edited restocks and store exclusives” as part of its Amiibo strategy.

Added Vignocchi: It is irresponsible and rude to your hardcore fans. They don’t want to create frustration or the hunt. So they will be stocking the shelves well.”

Nintendo has a history of mixed messages when it comes to Amiibos, and recently promised to improve every aspect of its distribution and communication regarding the figures.

Disney Infinity 3.0 is due out this autumn, complete with extensive support from the Star Wars brand.
