Fez downloaded 105,000 times in Steam sale

Just how popular is the Steam sale, really? Well, according to the makers of quirky platform game Fez, very.

The game was downloaded 105,000 times in just 48 hours, the game’s developer Phil Fish tweeted last week.

The critically acclaimed game was 50 per cent off last week, and was available to buy for just $5.

"We sold more in the first 24 hours of the sale than we had on Steam in the first three months since release," Fish added. "And over the course of the 48 hours, we sold more than we had in our first month of XBLA."

He went on to add: "Thank you cheap people everywhere."

So as the games market in the physical space tumbles to its lowest ever figure, the digital world appears to be booming.

Will that still be the case at Christmas? No. No it won’t.
