Conversion process smoother than expected for Subatomic

Fieldrunners dev reports easy iPhone-to-PSP porting

Fieldrunners developer Subatomic Studios has revealed that when porting the tower defense game from iPhone to PSP, the process was easier than the company had expected.

As reported by Touch Arcade, the news emerged out at the Penny Arcade Expo 2009, otherwise known as PAX No quotes were provided, and no other information was revealed, but if ports of iPhone titles to the new PSPGo and related Minis service are relatively painless, numerous studios crafting games for the Apple device may soon consider releasing titles for the new iteration of the Sony handheld.

It has also been revealed that the two level maps especially designed for the PSP’s downloadable edition of Fieldrunners are to be released as add-ons for the iPhone. Fieldrunners has enjoyed immense success on Apple’s App Store, and stands as a cornerstone of the popular ‘tower defense’ genre.

The two PSP levels, titled Frostbite and Skyway, will be available for iPhone for 99c each. No download date has been confirmed
