.

Developers who had to date been working on Final Fantasy Versus XIII have been shifted to the team handling PS3 title Final Fantasy XIII.

For those of you confused with the upcoming party of FFXIII games, three are currently in development. The trilogy, dubbed Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII by developer Square Enix, includes mobile game Final Fantasy Agito XIII and PS3 duo Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII, the latter of which is said to be notably darker than any previous FF instalment.

The three games are said to be wholly separate adventures, but ones that are set in the same universe – unlike most Final Fantasy games which are typically unrelated to one another.

No release dates for any of the titles have yet been announced – though the publisher has hinted that big news will be announced at September’s Tokyo Games Show.

UPDATE:
Square Enix has contacted MCV to deny the claims. A spokesperson said: "Reports that development for Final Fantasy Versus XIII is on hold are false. The truth of the situation is that when free, some staff from the Versus team have been helping with the XIII team on development of Final Fantasy XIII. Development for both titles is continuing as originally scheduled."
