Gaikai E3 press demo cancelled

Industry veteran David Perry will no longer be showing his cloud gaming service, Gaikai, to the press at E3.

According to a post on his confirmed Twitter account, Perry implied that the reason for withdrawing from press demos was down to complications regarding patent filings.

Perry will still demonstrating the service at E3 to some, however, with fellow publishers invited to swing over for a look.

Perry had his hand forced when announcing Gaikai last March, with rival cloud-gaming service OnLive raising the collective eyebrows of the press at GDC.

That coincidence has proved to not be the last for both parties; OnLive has also announced that it will not be showing its cloud gaming service at E3. The group has deemed the game-promotion and marketing Mecca as a retail-oriented conference”, and therefore not suitable for OnLive.
