Here’s your first look at Nintendo Switch’s touch screen

Despite reports doing the rounds prior to its reveal, and it being in fact confirmed by Nintendo, we still don’t know much about the touch screen functionality of Switch.

But now we have had our first look at how this is handled thanks to footage captured by All Games Beta (below), which shows the Switch edition of Activision’s Skylanders Imaginators.

Though the touch screen was rumoured prior to the console’s reveal, and was in fact confirmed during Nintendo’s January 13th presentation, until now we haven’t seen the input in action. Even at Nintendo’s preview event, no games on display used the touch screen.

Why Nintendo has shyed away from highlighting this functionality isn’t clear, though as Eurogamer’s Tom Phillips says, it’s possible it goes against the platform holder’s current messaging that this is a home console you can play on the go; not a tablet that connects to the TV.

Nintendo Switch is set for a March 3rd launch with a UK price of 280. You can see what MCV thought of Nintendo’s new machine here.
