Bungie community director says the studio is in discussion on future tech

New Bungie series â??enters the next console cycleâ??

Bungie’s new game series will stretch into the next generation of consoles, the studio has said.

Community director Brian Jarrard revealed to Develop that the studio is going through “technological discussions” about the future of the unknown franchise.

Earlier today publishing kingpin Activision announced a pivotal ten-year exclusivity deal with Bungie.

Jararrd had confirmed that the deal covers a single IP; a new franchise that is expected to survive ten years of shifting consumer tastes.

“This new IP deal stretches into the next generation of consoles as well as the current ones,” said Jarrard. “I think it’s safe to assume that.”

Discussions on when the next generation of consoles will arrive has in recent times turned into a full debate on whether the future of the industry will be centred on bleeding-edge powerhouse consoles at all.

Yet Bungie is, perhaps like its peers, in discussion on future technologies.

“We’re not ready to talk about timing [of our next IP] just yet, but definitely, there’s all sorts of technological discussions that Bungie is weighing in on and thinking hard about,” Jararrd added.
