Nintendo’s E3 2017 presentation dated, promises new Super Mario Odyssey details

Mark it in your diaries. Nintendo will be kicking off its E3 activities this year on Tuesday June 13th at 5pm in the UK. Starting with its now traditional E3 2017 video presentation – now dubbed Nintendo Spotlight as opposed to its traditional ‘Direct’ format – the platform holder will be showing off new details of its big holiday title, Super Mario Odyssey, as well as other Nintendo Switch games launching this year.

Immediately following the video presentation, Nintendo Treehouse: Live will return with a livestreamed showcase of upcoming Switch and 3DS games. This will be streamed from the E3 show floor across the whole of E3, starting on June 13th until June 15th via Nintendo’s Twitch channels. As well as gameplay, the stream will also feature commentary from game developers and behind-the-scenes info.

Meanwhile, Nintendo’s E3 booth will open at midday in LA on June 13th, where attendees will be able to go hands on with Super Mario Odyssey and other, currently unknown Switch titles.

Alongside its Treehouse and hands on sessions, Nintendo will also be running two livestreamed game tournaments from the show floor. The 2017 Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational will be held on June 13th, where four pre-qualified teams from Europe, the US, Japan and Australia and New Zealand will compete in the first-ever international Splatoon 2 competition. Then, on June 14th, Nintendo will host the 2017 ARMS Open Invitational.

While Nintendo has yet to announce what other games will be making an appearance at E3 this year, we can expect to hear more details on Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Bethesda’s Skyrim, FIFA, Fire Emblem Warriors and, potentially, Sonic Forces, all of which are currently slated to be released this year.
