Pokémon remakes sell 1.5m units and top Japanese charts

Pokmon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were the best-selling games in Japan this week, according to data provided by Famitsu.

The remakes of 2003’s Ruby and Sapphire sold a combined total of 1.5 million units, making it one of the biggest launches of the year to date.

These titles also no doubt contributed to the 50 per cent increase in sales of Nintendo’s New 3DS LL and a 112 per cent rise in sales of the New 3DS.

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Unity also launched in the week, and debuted at No.2.

Last week’s number one, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare on PlayStation 3, dropped to seventh place with an 80 per cent decline in sales week-on-week, while the PS4 version dropped out of the charts altogether.
