PS4 lifetime sales near 30m

Sony sold four million PS4 consoles during the three months ending September 30th.

Total PS4 sales now stand at 29.3 million since its launch in November 2013. Sony also expects to continue its strong hardware sales and has upped its estimates for the financial year to 17.5m PS4 hardware sales.

Sony also reported an increase in PS4 software sales from the last quarter.

Sales and operating revenue for the firm’s Game and Network Services division came in at just over $3bn, thanks also ao an increase in software sales during the last quarter. Operating income increased year-on-year to $199m.

In total, Sony reported over $15.8bn in sales and operating revenue for Q2. Net income grew significantly from a loss during the same quarter last year to $280m.
