Move to Xbox could be good for Indies, says Hello Games man Sean Murray

PSN exclusive Joe Danger jumps to XBLA

Hit PSN exclusive Joe Danger will be released on the XBLA, developer Hello Games has announced.

The move makes the indie title the first Playstation Network exclusive to move to the Xbox Live.

"It’s been so nice to come back to, now we’ve watched hundreds of thousands of people play through on PS3," said Hello Games MD Sean Murray.

"They’ve been our playtesters for the changes we’ve made to special edition."

Murray said that Microsoft has come a long way since a few years ago with its XBLA service and he hopes that the move will be good news for indie developers, with the network becoming more open to a broader range of titles.

“My naive hope is that if those things did exist before maybe it’s a bit more open now, and this announcement isn’t just good news for us, it’s good news for other indies as well,” Murray told eurogamer.

"I certainly know when we dealt with MS before right at the start of Joe Danger when we were originally doing it, compared to dealing with them now we’ve certainly found a different attitude and more openness.”

He added that work on the motorcycle stunt game began a few months ago and would be released on the XBLA soon.

Joe Danger has been a huge hit on the PSN since its release in June last year, being downloaded over 100,000 times and gaining an average rating of 86 on MetaCritic.
