New money injected into Pub Fund; Sony internal studios also to benefit

Sony launches $20m fund for PSN devs

Sony has set aside $20 million as part of a renewed hunt for games exclusive to the PlayStation Network, the company has said.

The PlayStation manufacturer said the investment would last about three years. Sony will use the money to fund internal studios, but also to broker deals with external studios and developers.

The money will also be used for the Sony Pub Fund – a program that promises to reimburse external devs for projects that are PSN exclusives.

“Our line of PSN exclusives has had great success with titles such as Joe Danger, Critter Crunch, Flower and the PixelJunk series,” read a Sony statement.

“We’re excited to add new and different products to this portfolio of games that can’t be found on any other console.”
