One of the most anticipated next-gen games will never be released on PS4.
Titanfall, which is being made by the creators of Call of Duty at new studio Respawn, was revealed last year as a timed Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC exclusive.
However, EA last night confirmed that the exclusivity deal is in fact for the life of the title”.
That’s not to say that there will never be a Titanfall game on PS4. Indeed, when asked whether the deal was for the IP or just the first game Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella said that his studio will of course” make games for PS4.
@AdanGarciaG Of course we will, just not the first Titanfall.

What’s perhaps more alarming is that Zampella claims that while he was aware of Titanfall’s launch exclusivity agreement with Microsoft he only recently discovered about the lifetime exclusivity deal, which he claims was brokered by publisher EA.
Always MS exclusive at launch, great partner and focus is good for a startup. EA made a deal for the rest, we only found out recently =(

In June EA’s Frank Gibeau admitted that its Titanfall deal with Microsoft was a tactical opportunity”, stating: It’s a product that came in through our EA Partners group, it’s a partnership with Respawn, and there was an opportunity for Microsoft, EA and Respawn to create a tactical opportunity to make Titanfall exclusive to Microsoft.”
However, Respawn’s lead artist Joel Emslie said separately around the same time that a PS4 release for the game was definitely not out of the question”.
Titanfall will be released on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on March 13th 2014.
