Volume PS4, PS Vita launch exclusivity lasts one month

Sony announced at its Gamescom press conference earlier today that games from several top indie developers would be console-exclusive to PlayStation platforms at launch. It now appears that exclusivity only lasts a month.

Thomas Was Alone creator Mike Bithell is one of the developers that Sony has managed to swing a timed exclusivity deal with. His next effort, a promising stealth game – Volume, will be console exclusive to PS4 and PS Vita when it launches in 2014. Bithell has stated that the exclusivity lasts just a month, after which Volume will also appear on PC and Mac.

PS4 and Vita in first month, then PC and Mac,” Bithell tweeted, and followed it up with, And yeah… one month exclusivity… what a difference a hardware generation makes”.

It’s likely that this one month launch exclusivity also extends to the other indie games Sony has tied up with.

Bithell said that he has no plans yet to release Volume on any other console.
