Wild West shooter heading to Kinect

Splosion Man developer Twisted Pixel has announced it is working on Kinect’s first shooter.

The Gunstringer is a comedic Wild West game that blends open 3D movement and Rez-like shooting sections. Using the Kinect camera, players take control of an undead cowboy in the style of a string puppet.

The Xbox 360 exclusive motion-sensing game can also be played sitting down.

The Gunstringer is unlike any Kinect game you may have played previously,” said Twisted Pixel’s lead designer for The Gunstringer Dan Teasdale.

There are no mini-games, forced gestures or end-of-level photos of you in your underwear here. You can play it sitting down, which is great if you just want to play and relax rather than burn calories.

Most importantly, you can aim and move with precision not seen in any of the Kinect launch titles, and with a speed and feel that’s just not possible with a traditional controller.”

The Gunstringer will be showcased at PAX East 2011. It has not been announced whether the game will be a boxed release or digital download, or when it will arrive.

Twisted Pixel has worked on a number of games including popular Xbox Live Arcade hits Splosion Man, Comic Jumper and The Maw. It is also currently producing Ms. Splosion Man.
