Consortium sequel off to strong start on Fig

PC sci-fi curiosity Consortium has taken a large stride toward receiving a sequel.

Interdimensional Games has launched a Fig campaign to crowdfund the title. It’s after $300k, and just a couple of days in has already won pledges totally just under $200k.

Consortium was released in 2014. On the face of it, it seems like an FPS, but in truth the shooting and action plays second fiddle to character narratives and dialogue.

This new game, called Consortium: The Tower, is described by the studio and an amalgamation of Deux Ex and Die Hard. Players will be able to talk their way through the entire thing should they be determined, although this will apparently be tough.

The experience of The Tower is one of absolute freedom of movement, speech and action, within a single-location, sandbox environment,” the pitch reads. There will be no cut scenes, and full control will never be taken away for ‘gamey’ reasons. Immersion is absolutely paramount, and to that end the world within the Tower will feel realistically alive and reactive to however you choose to approach each and every situation.

A branching ‘waterfall’ narrative and dialogue system should appeal to those looking for a truly replayable experience, and will ensure that your decisions are plentiful without feeling cheap or obvious.

While rather difficult, you will be able to play through the entire experience without raising your weapon. Trick, bribe, scare, hire, or simply convince potential combatants to disarm, all while developing relationships with your crew, other Consortium officers, the London Police, and any other characters you meet throughout the experience.”
