Dark Souls trilogy could be released on Nintendo Switch

A report has claimed that From Software’s interest in Nintendo Switch could very much revolve around the Dark Souls series.

From Software was named as one of Switch’s third party partners at the time of the console’s official reveal. However, it has not yet been revealed whether the studio is bringing one of its new unannounced titles or instead porting existing releases to the machine.

However, Let’s Play Video Games reports that From already has Dark Souls 3 up and running on Switch hardware, and with a level of performance they are happy with”.

The site claims, though, that there is not yet a commitment in place to release the game BUT that there has been internal discussions about the viability of porting all three Dark Souls games to Nintendo’s hardware, including their DLC.

The site adds that work on the Switch port has been ongoing for several months in the hands of a small team, and that a decision regarding release will only be made after the console has gone on sale and sales data can be poured over.

Ideally, From would like to release a Switch version on the same day the game is re-released on PC and consoles with all the DLC included – something you’d expect to see next summer or so.

From boss Hidetaka Miyazaki at one stage insisted that the company’s work on Dark Souls was over. His stance has softened more recently, however, with hints made about possible remasters and even perhaps a fourth game.
