Destiny has some Red Bull exclusive missions on the way

Yes, Red Bull. As in, the drink.

Activision has announced a promotion that will see a never-before-seen, multi-stage mission… that will test the speed and strategic abilities of Destiny players in new ways”. To get it gamers must purchase a can of Red Bull.

So far the promotion has only been announced for the US and Canada.

Access to the quest will be available on specially-marked cans of Red Bull and leverage themes of speed, tenacity and strategy inspired by the energy drink, through,” the blurb said.

Each Red Bull can will also include bonus XP to help players prepare for this epic quest. Players can start using the bonus XP throughout the summer, with the in-game quest kicking off following the launch of The Taken King.”

The content will remain tied to Red Bull until the end of the year, at which point it will be made more widely available.

The announcement could perhaps have been timed better, with much of the Destiny fanbase still up in arms about a recent Eurogamer interview with The Taken King’s creative director Luke Smith in concerning the fact that some upcoming Destiny content will be exclusive to those who buy the 54.99 Legendary Edition, which also contains the original game they already own.

There’s also the fact that The Taken King on its own will cost 39.99.
