Developers Reality Gaming Group join Blockchain Game Alliance

The publisher of augmented-reality combat game Reality Clash, Reality Gaming Group, has joined the Blockchain Game Alliance (BGA), a coalition of game and blockchain companies committed to advocating for blockchain technology within the games industry.

Reality Clash – which released earlier this year – is self-described as “Pokémon Go meets Call of Duty”, a mobile combat game that integrates geolocation technology and uses the latest AR Kit and AR Core technology from Apple and Google in a game about an underground world of cryptocurrencies and hackers. Players engage in “real-time battles in unique virtual environments” as they navigate “a 3D map to defend key parts of their own real-world town, city or village, mine for resources, build or customise unique guns and defeat their friends in this ‘first of a kind’ AR mobile shooter”. The Reality Clash Coin (RCC) cryptocurrency means gamers can also become “virtual arms dealers, buying and selling blockchain-based digital items assets (such as in-game weapons) that they retain complete ownership of”.

According to a press release, the BGA provides “an open forum for members to share knowledge and collaborate on research, fostering new ways to create, publish, play and monetise games”. Board members of the organisation include Ubisoft, Enjin, Ultra, Consensys, Alto.io, EverdreamSoft, Gimbl, and B2Expand.

“Joining the Blockchain Game Alliance is an important step for Reality Gaming Group, demonstrating the growing maturity of both the company and the world of blockchain gaming itself,” said Morten Rongaard, co-founder of Reality Gaming Group. “We’re looking forward to working closely with the BGA on its myriad initiatives to help spread the power of the blockchain within games.”

“We’re very happy to see that the number of companies on-boarded in the Blockchain Game Alliance is increasing steadily,” added Manon Burgel, president at the Blockchain Game Alliance. “Studios with hands-on experience that can provide strong feedback, like Reality Gaming Group, are particularly helpful. We’re looking forward to collaborating with them and move the blockchain game industry forward.”
