Developer Larian has admitted it was totally surprised by the speed at which its RPG sequel Divinity: Original Sin II was successfully funded on Kickstarter.
The game hit its $500k target in under 12 hours and currently stands at $673 with 33 days to go.

Where Divinity: Original Sin took 12 days to reach its funding goal, Divinity: Original Sin 2 was funded in less than 12 hours. Nobody at Larian, except Eric that is, could imagine that we would meet our goal so fast and now that we’ve reached this point, we’re incredibly motivated to take D:OS 2 as far as we can.
Since things went a lot faster than we anticipated, we’ll need a little bit more time to prepare our first big update, but rest assured, it’s coming.”
The first game sold 500k+ units in around two months, recouping its developments costs in the process. It had previously raised $944k on Kickstarter, well ahead of its $400k goal. A console port was announced in May, with the updates also being added to existing PC copies for free.
