Drawsome tablet announced for Wii

Ubisoft has unveiled a new Wii peripheral that allows players to interact with games by drawing.

The Drawsome tablet features a 6.5 x 5-inch touchscreen which displays whatever the user is drawing. These scribbles can then be transferred into the game.Players will also be able to share their creations with other Drawsome owners via SD cards.

It is due for release in the US on December 6th, according to Gamasutra. There is no word on release dates for other territories.

The tablet will come bundled with two games: Drawsome Sketch Quest and Drawsome Artist, the latter of which features characters from The Smurfs.

"Ubisoft is always looking for new ways to marry quality family time with a quality gaming experience," said SVP of sales and marketing Tony Key.

"With the Drawsome Tablet, Ubisoft is bringing to the market a peripheral that will allow families to sit down together and create their own unique works of art while participating in fun, creative adventures."

The Drawsome Tablet is reminscent of THQ’s uDraw Game Tablet, which launched earlier this year and arrives on Xbox 360 and PS3 this month.

It also coincides with some of the functionality of Nintendo’s Wii U console, which is due next year.
