E3 2010 open for business

Preparations for the game industry’s annual jamboree are underway. The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) today opened attendee and media registration for this year’s event, due to be held June 15-17 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The ESA says 90 per cent of floorspace is now sold, with exhibitors including all the big guns. After a shaky few years, E3 is seeking to notch visitor numbers back towards mid-noughties figures of 70,000. The show attracted 40,000 visitors last year, a significant increase from the anaemic invitation-only 2008 fiasco.

"Exhibitors, leading videogame publishers, and millions of consumers around the world are eagerly awaiting the opening of the 2010 E3 Expo," said Michael Gallagher, president and CEO of the ESA. "This year’s event will premier cutting-edge technologies, immersive games, and innovations in consumer interfaces."
