E3 2011: Sony unveils Payday The Heist

Payday: The Heist is a co-op first-person shooter in development for PC and PSN that puts you at the heart of illegal high stakes scores.

Coming from Swedish studio Overkill Software, you take on the role of a hardened criminal and will be aided by three partners, either player-controlled or AI.

You will chose from three specialties – assault, sharpshooter or support – that can be upgraded to suit your play style and earn new weapons.

There are six heists to carry out, including bank robberies, prisoner extractions and armoured car hijackings.

Whether you’re blowing the roof off a building to steal a safe with a helicopter or emptying the vault at the First World Bank, our action-packed heists will have players on edge and always checking their six,” said Overkill CEO Bo Andersson on the PlayStation Blog.

Dynamic environments, adaptive enemy behaviour, shifting entry points, FBI agents repelling down on ropes through the skylights, SWAT teams crashing through the windows and special units crawling through the ventilation shafts makes each play-through of every heist a unique fight.”

Payday will officially be unveiled at this week’s E3, with a release date to follow.
