EA drops prices for upcoming PS3, PC games

In yet another update to EA’s pricing strategy for upcoming games in India, the publisher has now reduced the prices for its upcoming games on PS3 and PC.

FIFA 13, Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Medal of Honor: Warfighter will now each be priced at Rs 2,999 on PS3 and Rs 1,499 on PC. There is, however, no change in prices for the PSP, PS2 and PS Vita versions of FIFA 13.

The reduction on price comes on the heels of the announcement from Redington, EA’s Xbox 360 games distributor in India, that FIFA 13 would retail for Rs 2,999 on Microsoft’s console.

Milestone Interactive, distributor for EA’s PlayStation and PC titles, had earlier hiked its launch price for FIFA 13 to Rs 3,499 on PS3 and Rs 1,799 on PC, up 40 per cent and 80 per cent respectively from last year’s prices.

It’s unclear whether the move to drop prices was Milestone’s reaction to Redington’s announcement or an across-the-board decision from EA.

It’s worth noting that EA has at no point publicly announced any prices for its upcoming games. These are simply the prices conveyed by EA’s distributors to various retailers.
