EA is making its own ‘Assassin’s Creed-style’ game

Former Assassin’s Creed producer Jade Raymond joined EA for a very good reason.

Raymond, who produced Ubisoft’s original historical stealth-action title in 2007 and its 2009 sequel, moved across to EA’s Motive Studios in July of this year.

Her only confirmed project to date was the as-yet untitled Star Wars title being developed by ex-Uncharted director and writer Amy Hennig at Visceral Games.

Now it seems that EA is hoping to make use of Raymond’s past experience leading the Assassin’s Creed franchise to success by creating its own hit entry in the action genre.

"We’ve never really operated in the largest genre of gaming, and that’s the action genre," said EACFO Blake Jorgensenwhile speaking at the UBS Global Technology Conference. (Thanks, GameSpot.)

"That’s the Assassin’s Creed-style games; more open-world, more single-player versus multiplayer. It’s not been an area that we’ve operated in.

We recently hired Jade Raymond, who was behind the Assassin’s Creed franchise for Ubisoft and she will be building an action genre for us through a studio we’re building out in Montreal right now. So there’s a lot of excitement around the action genre."

Jorgensen’scomments somewhat echo those of EA COO Peter Moore earlier this year, who said that Raymond would help the publisher create brand new IP.

Raymond’s own profile on the Motive Studios website adds that she is excited to bring new ideas to life”.
