EA reports Q4 FY12 and FY12 financial results

EA has revealed its financial results for Q4 of fiscal 2012, as well as fiscal 2012 as a whole.

EA’s total net revenue hit $1.36bn during Q4, a 24 per cent increase over the $1.09bn reported at the end of this same period in fiscal 2011.

Net revenue of packaged goods for the quarter was gauged at $949m, up from $879m reported last year from the same period. Revenue generated from digital sales nearly doubled year-over-year, from $211m to $419m.

Net income for Q4 was also up year-over-year, $400m for the period ending on March 31, 2012 as compared with $151m for the same period a year ago.

Unsurprisingly, EA credits the success to the launch of Mass Effect 3, as well as FIFA 12’s continued popularity.

Fiscal 2012 in general had net revenue at $4.14bn, up 15 per cent year-over-year compared to fiscal 2011’s $3.58bn figure.

Perhaps the biggest eye opener was FY2012 net income, which plummeted 263 per cent, from $276m in fiscal 2011 to just $76m this year.

EA states it expects an approximate net revenue of $4.07bn for fiscal 2013, nearly $1bn of which the company believes will be brought in during Q1 2013 (ending on June 30, 2012).
