Epic Mickey 2… is a musical!

Disney’s Epic Mickey 2 is real – and amazingly, it’s also a musical.

Speaking to The Associated Press, the game’s designer Warren Spector admits that he made a mistake” with 2010 release Epic Mickey and wants to try something new.

Jim Dooley and Mike Himelstein, the composer and lyricist behind upcoming animated flick Dorothy of Oz, are heading the musical project for the game.

"I love the co-op and next-gen stuff, but for me, when a character breaks into song, which they do on a regular basis in this game, it’s magic," he stated.

The game will also feature Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, who is a Disney character that pre-dates Mickey Mouse but was previously lost to the firm following a contract dispute in 1928.

"It’s drop-in, drop-out co-op. You can sit down at any time with a friend who is playing as Mickey, and you can take control of Oswald. If you’re playing as a single player, Oswald will be there every second of the game. He’s not just a multiplayer character. He’s a helper, whether you’re playing alone or with a friend or family member."

The first Epic Mickey sold 1.3m copies in North America.
