Games Media Awards 2015 Finalists: Radio/Podcast team (In-house)

As we count down to the awards event on Wednesday October 14th, MCV profiles the finalists for this year’s Games Media Awards.

Here we look at the in-house radio/podcast category.

The Pocket Gamer Podcast

With well over 300 episodes under their belt, The Pocket Gamer Podcast is the longest-running (and best, natch) podcast to focus on mobile, handheld, and wearables. Always on the pulse, ready to give pocket gamers all the news and game recommendations they need.

VGUK Podcast – Podcast

The VideoGamer UK Podcast is the equivalent of going to the pub with your friends before hurling abuse at each other for around an hour. Often found arguing about the merits of Metal Gear Solid 2 or whether people should play AlphaBear, it also recently featured a made-up version of R&B sensation Crag David.

BBC Radio 1/Julia Hardy

Julia Hardy is an experienced TV Presenter, writer, radio presenter and live host from London specialising in technology, video games, YouTube and pretty much anything to do with the online self.

Game On (BBC 5live)

The show’s been the only regular place to hear games and games culture being discussed on national radio for most of that time.

IGN UK Podcast

For years the IGN UK podcast went toe-to-toe with Alan Titchmarsh’s Gardening podcast at the top of the iTunes Games and Hobbies charts. There was a respect between the two shows because we’re both good in our own fields. We’re sure Alan couldn’t run and manage a successful games podcast and we couldn’t do what -, well we could do what Alan does and we think he knew that, even back then. Probably what spurred him on.

One Life Left

A sweet blend of light-hearted discussion, game-related music, interviews and ridiculous features, One Life Left is unique in gaming and in radio.

The Explosive Alan Podcast

Join Dan, Ash, Gareth and Simon as they jabber on about the games they’re playing, tear through the week’s most interesting news stories, attempt to outdo each other in weekly challenges, and invite the community to share their opinions on heavyweight gaming issues.

The Sausage Factory

Ihave been working with SPONG since 2011 as a previews writer and producer of podcasts including The Sausage Factory, which is an interview based show that was launched in 2013 where I chat to developers about them and their games. I pride myself in producing professional and informative output.
