GDC 2014 sees record attendance, 2015 dates set

Last week’s Game Developers Conference in San Francisco saw more than 24,000 attendees, conference organizer UBM Tech Game Network has announced.

GDC 2013 brought in more than 23,000 individuals last year, so the figure is a new record. The origins of the event date back over 25 years to the 1988 Computer Games Developer Conference, which hosted 27 attendees.

We’ve concluded another successful GDC, thanks to all the volunteers, speakers, indies, students and the team at UBM, who helped to create a friendly, open and safe environment for everyone,” GDC general manager Meggan Scavio said in a statement released earlier today.

It’s our great honour to host an event that honors the history, examines the status of, and projects into the future of the games industry.”

UBM also confirmed that GDC 2015 will be held again at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, with the dates set for March 2nd-6th of next year.
