Hut and Incomm sponsor London Games Conference

The Hut and Incomm have joined IGN, Screen Digest and ELSPA in backing the UK’s biggest games industry conference.

Following on from last year’s enormous success, the London Games Conference is focusing on shifts in revenue streams. Special attention will be paid to the impact of digital distribution, multi-player online networks, social networks and cloud-based gaming.

LGC 2010 will take place on Thursday November 4th at BAFTA, 195 Piccadilly and once again comprise of a three hour conference, plus networking dinner and drinks.

Last year’s event was opened by Culture Minister Ed Vaizey and featured appearances by Playfish CEO Kristian Segerstrale, Jagex CEO Mark Gerhard and PlayStation Home director Pete Edwards among many others.

This year’s speakers will begin to be announced next month, with a variety of big names expected.

InComm is the industry leading marketer, distributor and technology innovator of stored-value gift and prepaid products.

Its 220,000 partner locations generated nearly $10 billion in retail sales of prepaid products in 2009. With InComm, retailers can unleash new revenue streams.

"InComm is proud to sponsor the London Games Conference. The theme of ‘Survival and Profit In A Changing Industry’ demonstrates LGC’s recognition that gaming content is currently undergoing a shift in revenues, platforms and distribution methods," said product development director Simon Osgood.

"This theme and LGC’s mission align perfectly with InComm’s ability is to help developers and publishers realize new potential by monetising their games and introducing them to new distribution channels."

The Hut, meanwhile, runs e-commerce operations for major retailers and also has its own website selling home entertainment products, such as books, DVDs and games.

"We’re excited to be supporting London Games Conference which offers the trade an unparalleled vehicle to discuss the hottest topics affecting the industry today," said The Hut’s head of business development, Sarah Jasper.

IGN UK has already been appointed as a Platinum Sponsor of the event, whilst ELSPA has offered its endorsement and inclusion for the event within the wide-ranging London Games Festival this autumn.

Chief analyst Ben Keen will present an exclusive Screen Digest summary of current and future revenue distribution for the games industry.

There will also be big name keynotes, panel sessions and workshops. Another sell-out of over 200 delegates is expected, but pricing is being kept low to allow companies of all sizes and budgets to attend.

More details on pricing and early bird discounts to follow soon.
