Leipzig enjoys record numbers

The organisers of Leipizg Games Convention have confirmed that the show drew in a record 203,000 attendees last week – and have vowed to return with the show next year.

The future of the Convention is now up in the air, as German publisher body the BIU backs a new show in Cologne, GamesCom, in 2009.

However, Leipziger Messe CEO Wolfgang Marzin said:

The GC – Games Convention will be back in Leipzig again in 2009. The industry and visitors are giving us their clear support to continue with the fair.”

He named August 19th to 23rd, 2009 as the dates for the next – Games Convention.

According to a Leipziger Messe survey, 90 per cent of the 14,600 trade visitors at the GC said they wanted to show to come back in 2009.
