Redbox game rental booths open

US consumers are now able to rent games for $2 per day from Redbox kiosks across 21,000 locations.

The service – previously detailed last October – has officially gone live today. Customers were previously only able to rent DVDs and Blu-rays from the self-service machines for $1 and $1.50 respectively.

PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 games will now be available to rent from the kiosks from today.

Redbox will make discovering the latest games as easy as a trip to the local grocery, convenience or drug store,” said Redbox’s VP of games Joel Resnik.

Redbox has previously tested game rentals over the past two years, and it claims over 1m games have been rented in that time.
